Why Rail King?

Rail King railcar movers are robust, rugged and reliable. Each piece is individually painted prior to assembly, providing protection from corrosion and extending the life of the product. Rail King shunting equipment, now in their seventh generation called the G7, they feature heavy-duty Cummins and Volvo Penta engines and frames designed for harsh conditions. Plus, they earn high safety ratings with rear-view cameras with 360-degree visibility and enhanced fault information. We stand behind the Rail King product line with a 24-month or 3000hr factory limited warranty, onsite training and Canada-wide customer support.

Rail King units feature internal wet disc brakes on their John Deere rail axles, comprehensive train air braking systems and no-maintenance suspension called RoyalGlide that practically eliminate rail shock and vibration to the cab.

Most of the general maintenance items, hydraulic & pneumatic components are non-captive, and available anywhere in Canada. Many industry-standard part numbers are found throughout the parts manual, making almost all heavy part suppliers a Rail King provider.

Outstanding product features

Unlike other railcar movers, Rail King has no special hydraulic management system. Therefore, no calibration or manual adjustments need to be made to ensure the safe operation of the machine.

Railcar mover operators have a clear, unobstructed view of the front coupler, with no cameras needed. The rear coupler is also visible from the operator seat, but there is a camera for added visibility.

Rail King drivetrains are leaner than the competitors — we run directly from the transmission to the differentials, no drop case gearbox, which means we can run a lower horsepower rating. We also have more speed at the top end for those long runs.

Our railcar movers run cooler, because we lower our hydraulic system pressure and run a governed air compressor so it doesn’t drive 100% of the time the engine is running. Our reciprocating and screw type compressors are common and used in the tire truck industry, working far better in the cold, and are hydraulic driven meaning they will not take the machine out of service, if there is a failure.

Royal Glide

The Rail King has a patented RoyalGlide system that started out from the inception of the machine, with the rubber cushion mount for the couplers, the axles and the cabin. The G4+ models have heavy platform isolators that are maintenance-free and will not deflate.

Easy to Upgrade

There are tons of optional features available for Rail King railcar movers. These include cab air-conditioning, centralized lubrication systems, remote control, fire extinguishers, extra lighting packages and Arctic/corrosion protection packages for extreme environments.
